Notes from the route

What we see in Baltimore buildings, written short. No industry filler.

    Payments

    Cashless changed what sells

Once a machine takes cards and phones, average spend moves up and the cheapest item stops being the best seller. In Baltimore offices we see more cold brew, more protein, and fewer coin sized purchases.

    Product mix

Healthy options only work when they are the good version

Buildings ask for healthier vending, then the shelf sits untouched because the products are dull. Real juice, decent bars, and cold water move. Diet labels on their own do not.

    Equipment

    Micro market or machines

A micro market needs floor space, sightlines, and enough daily traffic to keep fresh food turning over. Below that, two well stocked machines and a smart cooler serve the same people better.

    Service

Why service frequency beats machine choice

An empty premium machine loses to a plain machine that is always full. Route frequency, not hardware, is what tenants actually notice.
